Great learning isn't a flood — it's a steady, purposeful flow.
We're excited to announce the launch of drip scheduling in eProfessor, a powerful new feature that lets instructors release course content gradually and automatically over time. Whether you want to unlock a full module every few weeks or roll out individual lessons day by day, drip scheduling puts you in complete control of the learning journey — from the very first piece of content to the last.
What Is Drip Scheduling?
Drip scheduling allows instructors to define when each part of a course becomes available to students after enrollment. Rather than giving students access to everything at once, content is released incrementally on a timeline you design. It's a proven approach to improving engagement, reducing overwhelm, and keeping learners on track throughout a course.
Two Ways to Drip
eProfessor's drip scheduling is built around flexibility. Instructors can choose between two release modes depending on how their course is structured:
By Module — Release an entire module at once on a set schedule. This works beautifully for cohort-based courses where each module represents a distinct unit of study, and you want all students moving through the material together, week by week.
By Lesson — For more granular control, instructors can schedule the release of individual lessons independently. Each lesson can be set to unlock a specific number of days, weeks, or months after enrollment, allowing for a truly customized learning path that meets students where they are.
Flexible Time Intervals
Regardless of whether you're dripping by module or by lesson, you choose the cadence that fits your curriculum:
- Days — Ideal for intensive programs or daily learning habits. Release a new lesson every day or every few days to keep momentum high.
- Weeks — The most common choice for structured courses. Roll out a new module or lesson each week to give students time to absorb, practice, and reflect before moving on.
- Months — Perfect for long-form programs, professional certifications, or courses designed to accompany real-world projects over an extended period.
Why Drip Scheduling Works
The research is clear: when learners receive too much content at once, they disengage. Drip scheduling combats this by creating natural pacing, building anticipation, and ensuring students aren't skipping ahead before they've mastered the foundations. It also gives instructors a powerful tool for maintaining ongoing engagement throughout the full duration of a course rather than seeing a spike at enrollment and a drop-off shortly after.
Designed for Every Teaching Style
Whether you're running a self-paced course that drips content automatically from the moment a student enrolls, or a live cohort program where every student unlocks new material on the same day, eProfessor's drip scheduling adapts to your approach. Mix and match module-level and lesson-level dripping within the same course to build exactly the experience you have in mind.
How to Get Started
Drip scheduling is available now for all instructors on eProfessor. Open your course editor, navigate to the Content tab, and select the Drip Schedule option on any module or lesson. From there, choose your release mode and set your interval. It's that simple.
